busy times

I am not sure where this picture was taken or even which one of us took it but I just wanted a picture with my post so here ya go!

First I need to tell you all that I am the proud mother to an 11 year old! Did ya'll hear me? My baby is 11! Kristen had a birthday on July 18th, but we were out of town so we are having some of her friends over friday night for a cookout/ sleepover.

Oh did I mention that friday is also the first day of school here? Well it is. Kristen is going into the 6th grade and that means a new school. Hannah is going into the 4th grade and that means, well she is going to the 4th grade I guess.

So the next couple of weeks will be a little crazy as we shift back into our school routine. Oh and Hannah will be playing soccer this fall. Little Brian is old enough now, but we are going to wait til spring to let him play. Yes, they start them out young here. 3 year olds can play! Kristen is going to try out for golf at school. It runs through the fall also and she said she may want to try soccer in the spring so we will see. Wouldnt that be crazy? Having all 3 kids in soccer!

Please check in often and hopefully I will be back on a roll soon!

what do you think so far?

So the Daddy and I have been playing around with this picture frame idea for a bit. This is the first one that has been put together. It is a bit plain, but I like it. The top of the frame is one piece, letters and all. I took the picture/glass from a frame I had to see how it would look put together. I think we are going to play around with it a bit more as far as design and color go. Check back!

So I started this today...

This is the ottoman that matches a rocking chair in Little Brians room. The thing is I dont like it in there any more and want to move it to Kristens room. The thing is the fabric on it was yucky and didnt match Kristens room. Have ya'll seen Kristens room? If not I will get on that. If so then you know why I recovered the ottoman with this fabric. It is actually part of a sheet that my Mil bought to recover another chair in Kristens room. The thing is I dont like that chair in her room any more so that is why the rocker is going in there. Now I must figure out what to do about the chair cushions. Not sure if I am going to make new ones or redo the old ones. Hmmm, well come back tomorrow. If I can get Kristen to clean her room I will take pictures of it to show ya'll.

You are what you eat!?

I wanted to have a cool post with pictures but my internet is acting a fool at home so I am going to tell you about a show I started watching. It is on BBC America and it is called "You are What You Eat". For those who have not seen it you should. I am obsessed. I dvr it and watch when I get home. I have even got the Daddy hooked. So check it out.

Oh and the Daddy and I are working on a project and we are hoping to have some in our Etsy shop soon. Ha I bet you didnt even know I had an Etsy shop. I do, but it is waiting to be filled! Stay tuned!

The Little Red Door

So this is it. Our house was built a loooooong time ago and best we can guess so was the front door. While it is small, it still has a lot of character. My favorite part is the hand carving. Someone had painted her white before we came into her life. White was boring. So was the plain brass knob. While the Daddy and I were at Lowes I decided I wanted to paint her. So we picked up a quart of Regal Red and back home I went. After the second coat was good and dry the Daddy added a fancy new handle/ knob. I took pictures forgetting that he still needed to add the deadbolt. He is doing that as I type. I must say that the red doesnt look nearly as bright in real life as it does in the picture but you get the point! Enjoy!

Fourth of July fun a day late!

The Daddy and Little Brian goofing off! I love those guys!
Our dog, Anna. She was watching from inside.
This is where we get a little country! Check out our cheapo slip-n-slide we picked up at the local Walmart! We dont have any hills so I had the kids pose as if they could actually slide down the joker.
Oh crap! Since little Brian is not really moving it is kinda obvious Hannah isnt either! Ha!

Awwe yes! Last here is a sneaky peaky at the project I have been working on this weekend. I will post some before and after pics tomorrow night so stay tuned. I will give you a hint though. A certain front door may be getting a fab new look so if you are a big fan of a good red door check back!

Tonight was girls night out with the ladies from church and what a time we had! We got to tour the Tennessee Titans training facility and then topped that off with a trip to Neely's BBQ. Yes they are the same Neely family from the Food Network! While we were a tad bit dissapointed that there were no Titans there today, we stll had a blast. It was a very cool place. I am not hardcore when it comes to football but just seeing what goes on to get those boys ready for the season was interesting. Our tour guide was the head of security for the team. The little white dog is Nancy. She lives on the practice field and helps take care of things. The 50 yard line is from inside the bubble. Those local folks will know what I am talking about. It is a field that is closed in by a white ddome that is literally inflated. If too much air gets out that sucker will deflate! Oh and the pools, thats where those big ol Titans go for some hydro therapy. It was a fun night! Great food and great friends!

Pillows oh how I love them!

So both of these pillows started out as skirts that had made their way into my giveaway box. I made the green and white one a few weeks ago and the other one tonight. This is a super easy and cheap project. I have a box full of giveaway stuff that I will have to go through now. The fun part is that they can be most any size and they dont have to be perfect. If you want you could even use fabric from more than one old garment on the same pillow!
