just a little update

Well school is finally out for the summer. We are in a modified year round schedule which means we only get 2 months for summer but we get time off through out the school year.

Todays picture is kinda random but it gives you all an idea of the reality of living in our house. There are always toys everywhere unless we know your coming over and ahve a chance to hide them.

Hmmm, well we finally made time to mow the yard. Kristen mowed the back on the riding mower. She was singing as loud as she could. Didnt think anyone could hear her but we could, Ha! The Daddy did the weed eatin and mowed some of the yard and I push mowed most of the front. We all had popsicles on the front porch after. I think we should sleep well tonight.

Confusing times

We went to Jo anns memorial service tonight. It was perfect. She was such an amazing person. I am saddened to tell you all that we had a unexpected death in our family today. It is already been very public as far as the news media goes so I have decided not to give any details here. Just know that our family could use all of the prayers that we can get right now. It is late and I am exhausted so until next time......

So I havent blogged in over a week!

Life happens. Let me tell you about it. First my friend, Tiffiney, and I went to see Jo Ann friday evening. I know I have mentioned her a couple of times before. She went into hospice care a month or so ago. I had the chance to talk with her friday and I cant even begin to tell you all how special a person she has been. Jo ann is now cancer free. She passed early tuesday morning. Her memorial service will be tomorrow evening.
Lets see what else has happened. Oh tomorrow is the very last day of school for the girls! They both head out for camp June 9th and will be gone til that friday. What ever will we do with only one child in the house for 4 days?
And lastly, I wanted to show you all the jammies I made for Little Brian a few weeks ago. I didnt make the shirt. I bought it at Walmart and added the goldfish on it.
Well hopefully you all havent given up on me! More to come tomorrow!

What Are Child Labor Laws?

Right now as I type our 10 year old is learning to mow the lawn! For those who know us outside of blogland you can only imagine how shocked I am that the Daddy got her on that thing. But.......he did and ..........she LOVED it! I think that this is how crop circles are made though.

What a Wednesday!

Okay where to start! Oh I know how about with Kristens pictures. Check them out. Now all 3 kids have updated photos. I got the prints in the mail today. I order from MPix for those who are curious and they turned out great as usual.
Also tonight was the last night for the girls to finish their science fair projects and in true Cart fashion Kristen is finishing hers up right now!
Lets see, oh please continue to pray for my friend Joann. She is in hospice now and last I heard they think only a couple of weeks left. She along with the associate pastor at our church made a video and I think it will be aired at her funeral. However she wanted it to get to as many people as possible. I have been told it is an incredible video and it may be on You Tube at some point so if that happens I will post it here for you all to see.

Oh and last, the color on the head board is called Swiss Chocolate. I got it at lowes. Thanks for all the sweet comments!

The table is done!

Okay so the Daddy still needs to add a coat of poly to it but you get the picture! As I was sitting here admiring my crappy pictures I couldnt help but laugh at myself. I can only hope that a year from now my house will start looking more finished. But give me a break! We are startin from scratch here people! The more I think about it I think it is kind of cool that you all will get to see this all from the start

Remember that headboard project?

You know, the one I started a couple of months ago! Well I finished it this weekend.

So here are a couple of crappy pictures to prove it! The headboard was white and didn't really go with anything since we moved. I painted it a chocolate brown and VIOLA! New head board! Don't mind the messy bed. I let Hannah help make the bed a lot. Guess I could have at least done it for the picture. But then I would have had time to get pictures of the finished table in the dining room. Stay tuned for more crappy pictures tomorrow!

Its time for a sneaky peaky!

I know it has not been painted or stained yet. It hasnt even had a good sanding but I had to give you all a little peak. I put the salt and pepper shakers on it so you could get an idea of how big this joker is! Okay so its not as big as the ones at the top of the bean stalk but compared to the rinky dinky that we had it is much better. The tops of the table and benches will be stained and the rest will be painted black and distressed/ antiqued. We have a couple of our old chairs that we will try to salvage and have in case we ever need to put them on either end. The benches seat 3 on each side comfortably. I know this may be a little rustic for some but the Daddy saw one similar at a local shop retailing for over $450 I think. It has cost us around $150 to create this gem. Anywho I will get some more photos when it is all done up!

Oh Hannah Bug! What are we gonna do with you?

Welcome to round 2 of the photo updates. As predicted here is Hannah with the craziest face possible. Also note that you can clearly tell that her eyes are 2 different colors. Here she is about to take the leap of of the photo stump. There was a tree here before we bought the house but it was a dead tree that leaned over top of the house so we had the previous owner chop it down.
Awwe, and here she is with a somewhat normal smile on her face. Got to love that personality!

updating the kids photos one at a time

I had to leave work early to get Kristen from school. She isnt feeling well. I am pretty sure it is a sinus thing though. Anywho I was actually at home at a decent hour so I took the only healthy child I had in my presence outside for a few pictures. Hannah was still at school. This first one is one of my favorites even though the background is a bit distracting. What a good looking boy he is! The second one is one of about 15 that I took. It is the onl;y one where he is actually looking at me without a silly face and still has a good background.
HA! I am not sure what this face is all about! I love it though. So now I am thinking about taking on Hannah Bug. She has always been a hard one to photograph. She loves to pose and make faces! So stay tuned. More to come!

Guess what the Daddy is working on right now?

I dont have pictures but I wanted to tease you all a little. Sweet of me huh? The Daddy is outside working on the new dining room table and benches! Yes I said benches. When you have this many people to feed you need benches instead of chairs. Not to mention benches make a nice spot to line up all those socks on. So hopefully I will have some photos soon to show you all.

New Sock Day

Ya'll thought I was jokin didn't ya? You know that feeling you get when you are trying to fold laundry and half the socks have holes in them, the other half don't fit and the last half don't have mates. Yes I know that is too many but that is what you have when you have 5 people in a house. So now its out with the old and in with the new. Everyone has new socks and each person has there own kind. This is almost as good as clean sheet day! Okay so really is it that obvious that I had nothing to write about today?

Look at what I got!

I love a good peice of furniture and when the daddy said that a lady he had been working for was getting rid of this highbloy well I was interested. We went to her house yesterday to pick it up. I must say that her house was beautiful and it was obvious she did not have any rugrats running around destroying everything. The best part was that she gave us this. Yes GAVE it too us free of charge! Can you believe that?!?
