Waitin' on the Train

This evening we went for a walk down by the railroad tracks in hopes of Little Brian getting to see one of the trains going by. We were getting close whne we heard one going by. Darn! We had just missed it. Not a total loss. I took my camera with me and got a couple of shots as we were crossing over the tracks. They are not too great as it was getting dark. So we headed back towards the house and got just out of sight of the tracks and what do you think happened? Yep, apparently the 7:25 train was going by. How is it that we missed both trains? Maybe tomorrow!
Oh and I am happy to report that the girls made A/B honor roll again! Woot! Woot!

The long wait is over!

About 6 months or so ago our microwave went out and we decided to wait and save up for one of these lovely above the range deals. We found a good deal on this little number at the Home Depot last month and brought her home. The problem was that we did not have a cabinet above the range to attach this little baby ER big baby to so the daddy is building one. With the box part complete we were finally able to hook her up yesterday! I have never been so excited over a microwave in my life. As a matter of fact I think I smell popcorn!

Easter 2008!

Here are a few photos from our family Easter gathering today. First up is Little Brian with his Great Granny! Next is a group shot of the kiddos getting ready to hunt those eggs. Ha! Rachel I dont think you hid fast enough for this one!
And last, these are my three boogers. The girls hated that I got them dresses that match!

Spaghetti Hair!

We are home from the hospital! Two days of my little man being hooked up to his "spaghetti hair" and we don't know anything more than when we got there. Now that is not a bad thing, but it is still a little frustrating that we still don't know why he has had the non-febrile seizures. The good news is that they did not find anything out of the ordinary on his EEG. No meds for now, unless he has another seizure without fever. One of the care partners at the hospital brought him the toy laptop to check his email with, lol. He kept telling me he needed to check his email. The other photo is from yesterday when I caught him laying in bed to eat his breakfast!

Anywho, thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!

Some photos from the way things were! Volume1

Hmmm, after revisiting these photos I can't figure out why anyone would have let this beauty sit on the market for over a year before we came along! These are a couple of photos I scanned from the kitchen the day we moved in. I know the quality isnt the best but it was before digital for us! Let me point out a few things as if you couldn't see them. Note the WHOLE where the dishwasher was. It isnt in the picture because it was leaking and the floor was rotted. Thats right folks, a week after we moved in we had to remove the kitchen floor including subfloor and replace it! If you click on the photo to enlarge it you can see the big hump in the floor, lol. It is gone now!
Next note the border above the cabinets. APPLES! Thats all I'm gonna say about that! Remember those apples. You may see something that makes you think of them in a different volume. Oh and there will be many volumes to this story! On to the next picture.
Ahhhh, you gotta love the built in buffet. And of course the dark paneling. Must have been a theme back then! If you will recheck the window mistreatment post you will notice that the cabinets are no longer brown, except of course the buffet. That is because we painted them an off white color but in the evening it looks too yellow so we are going to repaint them very soon. Also you will notice that the walls are now red. Well when the kitchen is complete I will post new pictures but right now my allergies are kickin my you know what so I am off to bed! Good night and don't laugh too hard!

Time for some window mistreatments!

These came from some inspiration I found over at the Nesting place. So first I decided how far I wanted the fabric to come down on the window. Then I measured both and cut them both. I made the bottom layer of fabric a little longer than the top so it would hang lower. Then I got my handy upholstry tacks and a chair and tacked each side up. I then gathered and tacked the middle and then added tacks where they were edded in between and voila! No sewing involved and if I ever become tired of them I can use the fabric for something else. Oh and dont mind the fact that my kitchen window has been primed but not yet painted, lol! I am working on it. Stay tuned I have a fun headboad makeover and some photos from the day we moved in this place coming later this week!

It was brought to my attention

I was talking to Rachel yesterday on the phone and I mentioned Little Brians upcoming hospital stay and she didn't know about it so in case it hasn't gotten around I will give you all a bit of info. Little Brian is going to be at VCH for 1-2 days starting on the 21st for an EMU study. To the best of my knowledge he will be hooked to an EEG machine and be monitored by video the whole time. If they get the info they need in the first 24 hours then they will decide what meds he needs and home we go in time for Easter. If not then we will be there another 24 hours. Heres to hoping that info shows up quick!

For those new to my little ol blog, my son has a history of seizures with most being fever related. These tests will help determine if any of the seizures he is having require preventive meds.

That is about it. Oh we will foloow up with our eye doctor in May, but those close to us will agree that his eye surgery was a huge success!

SNOW on my MITTS!

We finally had a snow day. Of course it wads a saturday, but there was snow! My little guy didnt have any gloves to fit him so we put sandwhich bags and two pair of socks on his hands and made "MITTS"! The first time he got some snow on them he yelled out "I got SNow on my Mitts!" I think he would have stayed out all day!

We painted the knotty pine!!!

Ahhhh, finally blogger is letting me upload teh pictures. My I have some catching up to do. Oh for those of you who are curious I have decided to just keep my one blog. I had to be honest with myself. I dont have time for 2! So here are a couple of progress pictures from the foyer. As you can see the trim, doors and stairs are not complete, but the walls are painted! I am totally loving the color. I have so many ideas floating in my head right now. If any of you all would like to have some input on the decor in this area please feel free to comment with some ideas. This project is a week or two away from done as we do these things on our days off. I will post more as we get closer to finished!

I believe! I believe!

Well those of you who are in middle Tn probably saw alot of the same fun snow that I saw when I woke up this morning. Those of you who are not, well you just have to understand that everytime snow is in the forecast it magically disappears. That is why when we woke to 6 inches of the white stuff this morning we were out playing in it in our pjs! Okay so my kids had regular clothes on also, but they did have their pjs on under their clothes, lol. Most of the snow is now gone, but it was fun.
After a day of painting (pictures to come) I am pooped so goodnight all!

I will believe it when I see it!

Let me just say that for those of you in blog land who have had way too much snow, I am jealous. I want a good snow just once every couple of years and I am happy. The last GOOD snow we had here was (don't laugh, this is what it was called here) the blizzard of 2003 when we got a whopping 6-7 inches. According to the forecast we are supposed to get anywhere from 2-6 inches of snow tomorrow into tomorrow night! Please everyone do a snow dance for us. My 2 1/2 year old has only seen flurries really.

What a bargain!

I LOVE a good deal! I got one yesterday and I have to share it! A good friend of mine is getting married in a few months and moving from Nashville to NYC, so she is selling almost all of her furniture. She had a couple chest of drawers that she listed on Craiglist for $30 each! I couldnt believe that was all she wanted but apparently she didnt realize what they were worth because about 20 people responded. Well I sweet talked her into just selling me both and I would give her $65 for both and then she would not have to deal with the strangers from craiglist! She said great so its a deal. I wish I had pictures but I probably wont get them for a couple of weeks. I have some big plans for them so stay tuned!

So tired...must sleep!

Why am I so tired? I have know clue! I mean other than the full time job, three kids, six dogs, and house to take care of. I mean I really do get more sleep than most mommas I know. My kids all sleep through the night and are in bed my 8:30. I just have had a hard time actually sleeping the last two days and I am so tired right now I can't stand myself. So I am not going to get started with my new blog tonight and I am not going to sew tonight and I am not going to clean anything tonight (kids are cleaning dishes right now, lol) and lastly I am not going to fill out any of the papers I am supposed to fill out tonight. It can all wait til tomorrow.

And with that,

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE!

A second blog?

Yes I am crazy. I have created a second blog. You can check it out here. http://lovingourhome.blogspot.com

There is a reason behind this madness and I think my first post there explains it all. Please stay tuned to both of my blogs for the latest breaking news coverage from our house!

this I don't like

I started moderating my comments a while ago when I got a strange one. In the last few days I have had a couiple of comments that I have rejected because they contain links that will put spyware on your computer. I know this because I had to rid mine of that nuisance the other day. So all my blogging friends please beware!

Calling all my crafty friends!

I need help! Kim this means you too, lol. You are one of the most creative people I know. I am working on my kitchen. I have one valance already and I love love love it, but I dont love the cost of getting the other two so I bought some fabric to make two more window treatments. I am going to put the purchased one in the dining part of the kitchen and the others in the kitchen. Walls are painted red. Cabinets soon to be white. So I need some more ideas for decor. I need something to go on the walls close to the table. The daddy is going to build a new table with benches that will be painted and distressed after the staircase is completed. Again Kim I need to get you to come over and help me with that table, lol! So please leave me a comment. Here is a picture of the valance that I already have.
