2 hours late

I love it! I got up this morning and let the dog out and noticed it was rather nippy out. So the dog came back in and I got the the girls up and went to turn on the tv when IT scroled across the bottom of the screen. Schools in our county were going to be 2 hours late. With that I screamed up stairs for the girls to go back to bed, called my bss and told him I too would be late, and here I am with ten minutes before I have to get Brian up for work. Then I shall go back to sleep for another hour and 25 minutes! Can I get a WOOT WOOT!

Somebody stole my homework!

I have always known Hannah wasnt the most organized child in the world. In fact, she probably falls somewhere close to the bottom of the list, but she is a smart child. Sunday night I went to go through her backpack, which I do occasionally to make sure there is no lip gloss, make up, toys, nail polish, ect, ect ect in her bag. Yes, she likes to smuggle things. I open the bag and I am not kidding, it looked like rats had built a nest with all of her school papers in the bottom. SO I clean it out and AGAIN go over why it is important to keep your school work in order.

Fast forword to tonight. Hannah tells me that she can not complete her spelling because someone stole her homework. Had she done the work yet? Nope, but someone had to have taken it. I reminded her that she should double check her backpack, but she swears that someone took it. Of course I tell her that is silly. Who would want to steal your homework that isnt done for their own pleasures? But that is her story and she is sticking to it. ::SIGH::

I do rememebr the smartest kids I knew growing up were usually the ones with papers hanging out of their text books so maybe there is hope yet!

the haircut: Act 2

As promised here are the after pictures from the haircut!

The haircut

Let me start by saying that tonight, I will post a picture of this haircut.

Now back to the program, I took Brian into the bathroom last night with the intentions of trimming his locks. For those who know my son, you know that his hair has the texture of a horses hair. I am not kidding either. It was getting a little long and starting to look bad so it was time for a trim. Now I dont know how many of you have tried to tackle a two year old long enough to give them a haircut, but it ain't easy. I finally broke out the clippers, not paying attention to what size guard was on it and preceeded to take the easy road. Well, once I realized that his new do was going to be a lot shorter than I anticipiated it was too late. If you scroll down the page you will see the before. i will tell you that his hair is way lighter when it is short. Every time I look at him I giggle. SO be sure to check back tonight for the "after" picture.

what shall I sew next?

hmmm, I feel the need to create something, but what shall it be? I am getting pretty comfortable with bags, totes, purses, or whatever you may call them. I am thinking of making myself a tote to carry all of my most important belongings in to work each day. Yep, I think I shall do that and then maybe tackle something wearable for one of the kidlets.

Guess who got some new specs!?

My baby girl, Hannah Buggie! They are very fashionable if I do say so myself! I guess we got lucky because Hannah loves her new glasses. Most kids would be so upset right now, lol.

Its Picture Time!

Here are a few pictures from yesterday. The first is Brian playing in the waiting area. I think he was wanting some sugars.
The next is me and my baby boy right after woke up from his anesthesia.
Last this lovely shot was taken after we got home. It is his Cookie Monster face. He was starving!

The EMU is scheduled

Dont ask me what EMU stands for because I dont know. It is the abbreviation for the testing that the neurologists wants done for Little Brian. It is basically an EEG that lasts for 1-2 days in hospital. The schedular called yesterday to make the appointment and wanted us to come February 4th. I was like "Uh, that is next week and I need time to prepare so whats your next opening?" What do you all think she said? March 21st! What better way to spend my birthday than with my beautiful son at VCH! So with it also being a friday, I said "yes, that would be great." Friday meaning less time off from work. For those who know the history, you know that I have spent all of my time off for the last decade taking care of the kids when they are sick so if we have the option to be hospitalized on the weekend then by all means we will take it. I still have finished charging my camera batteries, I honestly just plugged them in so it will be later tonight or tomorrow for the pictures from yesterday.

we are home...

Everything went well with the MRI. I did take a couple of pictures and I will post them tomorrow when I upload them. My poor little man was so hungry and tired by the time we got to the hospital, but that all went away when we entered the holding pin and he saw the cool toys they had. They tried to put his IV in his left hand and he didnt cry. He said "Owwwie, you hurt me!" to the nurse. I was proud, lol. Unfortunately they couldnt get it the first time so they went for his right hand and then he cried but only for a few seconds. I got to carry him into the room and hold him while they gave him his sedation and I am not joking he was out in 3 seconds! It was scary and amazing at the same time. The test took about an hour and they gave us a pager to let us know when he came out so we could be there when he woke up. We were both starving(couldnt eat in front of him today) so we went up stairs and ate a little something. He is playing with his sissy right now. He ate 2 bags of teddy grahams and drank some juice on the way home. Well I am off to go find something for these kiddos to eat for dinner!

So radiology called today...

The nurse from radiology called this afternoon to brief me on what Brian can eat, drink, ect before his MRI on thursday. Now at 2 1/2, he will be given IV sedation so I knew there were going to be restrictions on eating and drinking. Why we had to have the 2 pm appointment instead of say 8 am I will never no. My child will beg for food and I will have to say no because he can't have anything to eat after 5 am. Yep, that is 5 in the morning. It is still dark out at 5 am. Do I get him up to eat at 4? Heck no! He can still have clear liquids and jello counts so he will be dining on orange jello and water for breakfast. YUMMY! Ha! I will try and sneak a few photos of this adventure for the blog because I always regret it when I dont take my camera to the hospital.

Tonight we do the snow dance!

Everyone at my house is exhausted after this weekend and we need another day to relax so tonight we are doing a snow dance. According to my girls, this involves wearing the pjs inside out or backwards or both, flushing ice cubes down the toilet, and possibly doing a dance. I dont know how the ice cubes help, but I am willing to try anything. So please join us so that we may have a day off from work and school tomorrow!

I made this!

I decided I wasn't giving up on this sewing thing so easily. I found this pattern on the Ottobre design site for free. Now mine is not as fancy as the one there but this is a start. Actually this is the second one I made today. The first wasnt as pretty, lol.
Kim, sorry I wish I had a picture of the dress, but I dont. Maybe I will sneak a shot next time I am at Larhondas!

Wow what a day

So if you read the previous post then you all know how our day started. Brian and I told the girls shortly after they woke up about Earl. They both were upset, but Kristen a little more so. If you are reading this Kristen, dont be ashamed. It is okay and normal to be upset. Little Brian and I went to see Mrs Hodge this afternoon. It was so good to see that she has a lot of support right now.

Brian and I both had plans for tonight and decided it would be good to go ahead and keep them and I can tell you that I have not laughed as hard as I did tonight in a long while. Larhonda came over since we both have decided to learn to sew, we thought we could try a pattern out together. I must tell you all that neither of us have had any previous experience so we are learning from scratch here. I wish I would have gotten my camera out so you all could have seen the dress that was made tonight. This pattern was labeled EASY. EASY my @$#@$! Needless to say I think we will be seeking some outside instruction if we are to continue sewing. Thank you Larhonda! I had a blast.

This is a very sad day for us...

I can't go back to sleep. Not after the phone call I got around 5:30 this morning. Mrs. Hodge, Brians "babysitter", called me and told me that Earl had died very early this morning. I am sure some of you know of Earl, but for those who dont I will tell you he is one of the most important people in Little Brian's life. They have been inseparable since Brian was born, because 3 years ago Earl did not know if he would make it that long. Earl had Multiple Myloma and had been in remission. His doctors told him he needed to find something to focus his life on to keep going. He has been on strict diets, restrictions, you name it for a long time. He chose Little Brian. I knew that this would happen someday, but you never imagine that today would be that day.

At 2 1/2 years old, I don't think Brian will comprehend that he will never see Earl again. We plan on telling him evertime he asks his famous "Wheres Earl?" that Earl is in heaven. I just pray that he remembers even a little that he had someone as special as Earl who cared so much about him and would do anything fopr him.

Please keep Mrs Hodge in your thoughts and prayers. This is a picture of Earl and Brian from the big party in August.

Supporting the local medical community once again!

I guess I will start with Brian's neuro appointment first. We honestly thought that since he has not had any seizures since November that there was a chance they would just want to monitor him and wait and see what happens. Ha! No such luck. Not only does he still have to have the MRI next thursday (he will have to be sedated for it) but they are also scheduling another EEG. Now I was not blogging when the last one was done , but it was one of the most traumatic things that has ever happened to my baby boy and it lasted 30 minutes. The one that is coming up will require a 1-2 day hospital stay! Yep he will be hooked up to electrodes for close to 24 hours! I am thinking that his Daddy may need to take him for that, lol. The good news is that even if they discover an underlying seizure disorder odds are he will grow out of it. I will update late and let you all know when the new test will happen.

Now on to Hannah. *Hold on while I insert my foot into my mouth. Shame on me for thinking that she just wanted glasses because it may be the "cool" thing to do. She does need them. Her eyes were pretty bad for her age in fact. So we go back on the 25th I think to pick them up. I will update with a picture then!

That is it for now. We are hoping for snow tonight. Not likely but we can hope ,right?

Where have I been?!?!

Well so much for keeping up with the ol' blog. I know I have been slipping!

Okay so a little update on our family, tomorrow is grab a kid and take him/her to the doctor day at our house. No really Brian is taking Hannah to the eye doctor because we got the dreaded "She cant see the black board" note sent home. I am taking little Brian to the pediatric neurologist or as the girls call it the brain doctor. Lovely, I know. Anywho, Little Brian is doing well and has not had any seizures in almost 2 months. Kristen is good. She is getting way to big for me though. She wore dangling earrings to school today for the first time. What a big girl,lol.. Brian and I are good also. So I am off to bed as it is 10:30 and well past my bedtime! Goodnight all!
