Dear McDonalds Corporation

I am writing in regards to a visit at the McDonalds in White Bluff Tn. (This will be helpful for you local readers) My daughter loves the chicken selects......alot! She would eat them every day if she could, that is up until today. After eating two pieces from her meal she noticed the third peice was different. I looked at it and what I saw made me sick at my stomach. The chicken was RAW, as in not cooked. Now rememebr that I said she had already eaten two pieces that happened to be in the same box with this one. I am not sure if you know this but raw chicken can spread bacteria to other areas, includung the chicken it was in the box with so it really doesnt matter if the first two pieces were cooked all of the way. After bringing this matter to the attention of an employee, we were given another order of selects that were under cooked. I am pretty upset at this point. I threw them in the trash and your employee came by to ask if they were better. After I told him NO he mumbled something about the fryer being broken and walked away. I did not get an apology nor did they offer to refund my money. I did write to your corporate office about my experience and I also will let you know that it is New Years Eve and if my daughter has any ill affects from the food she was served today you will hear about it.

Her name is Mickey Mouse!

I decided to search doll patterns online and found the Black Apple pattern on the Martha Stewart site. Looked easy enough so I went through my scrap fabrics and made this. She isn't fancy by any means. I have to start out plain and work my way up to fancy ;). Little Brian absolutely loves her though and has named her Mickey Mouse! I wanted to get a photo of her to put on here, but he already had her and would not let her go so I took these three and couldnt choose between them so I put them all on! I think my favorite is the one of them sitting side by side on the chair. Speaking of that chair that was a little project from summer. We painted those bad boys black and gave them a new look! Maybe I can get Mickey away from him if I make a new doll that is more....uhmmmm... blue!

A few Christmas memories

Look at these sweet children in their Christmas jammies! It is tradition for Meme to get us all new jammies for Christmas! Someone was tired froma long day of playing with new toys Santa brought!
Here is most of the loot on CHristmas eve night before they got to it! There was a Wii in the other room also. Spoiled kids they are!

Sunday Savings!

Of course you all know what this is! Wax! So since I am trying to be more frugal what a better way than doing my own eyebrows. Call me crazy but I am actually not too bad at it. It saves me a ton of money also. I bought a kit with everything I needed at Sallys for $16! It is enough to do my eyebrows for the next couple of years! No Joke! I have to have mine done almost monthly or they look like wooly worms so this is one way I can save. Now I would highly recommend a professional before you think about waxing other areas ;)!

So I went to Metropolis for the weekend.....

Actually it was about 2 weeks ago that I went. No I did not go to gamble. I have never been one to care for that. I went to visit my friend Amanda. She moved to NY earlier this year and Metro is her home town so when she was in for a visit I had to go and see her. I actually drove there by myself. Did ya'll catch that last part? I know can you believe it? I dont have a lot of pictures but here are a few that I thought were funny. This first one is the fence of a local house. I take it the guy who lives there is a little weird. This is a picture of his "Death List, For them that need to die"! Yep, that it exactly what it says! I took more pictures of it but one is plenty, lol. This next one is of my new friends, Stephanie and Angie, in the cut outs. Of course we had to take these! It is Metropolis, home of Superman!
And last here is Amanda and myself in the cut outs! Dont we look great!

New Years Resolutions 09

Okay so I am pretty sure that everyone has given up on me by now, but here I am. I am going to try and do better about blogging this year. That brings me to the topic of this blog. 2008 has not been the easiest year for us. We lost a few people that were special to us this year. Brian lost his job a couple of months ago, but he is working now. We can be thankful for that. So here are my resolutions for the coming year!

* I am going to strive to be a more frugal person. (Not sure I have a choice on this one, lol)

* get my son potty trained (NOT going to be easy)

* Blog more ;)

* Keep up with the laundry (HA HA HA)

* Get crafty (I started a little this past year , but I can do better!)

That is about it for now. I would like to excercise more, but I am not putting that in writing!

Sports winding down......finally!

Hannah finished soccer this past saturday. She will not be playing again. I think she wants to cheer next year instead. Soccer wasnt her sport after all!

Kristen will be finished with cheerleading after this weekend. The football team made playoffs but they lost their second game so they will be going to the Womble Bowl sunday. We still have to go to the Super Bowl because Kristens squad is doing the halftime performance since they placed first in competition. Did I mention that the Super Bowl is over an hour from our house?! It is saturday night.

Little Brian, well not much to say because he do sports yet but he is in the middle of a crazy growth spurt! I swear the boy has grown 3 inches in the last 2 months!

Cheer Competition 2008

Here are your winners! Well at least in the majors division! Kristen is cheering for the Burns Cowboys and they went to the Tri county competition today and took home first place in their division! There are 3 divisions and the Burns Cowboy peewees took home first place while our minors took home fifth! These girls totally rocked their routine and made us all so proud!

Drop Dead Fred?

This is Fred. He is my tropical plant that I bought from Kroger a year ago. I thought me and him had an agreement. He would stay perky and I would pretend that I could keep a plant alive but alas he has forsaken me. Hmm maybe I should have put him in a real pot or given him water every day:(

A little fall fun in our town

I thought it would be fun to share some photos with ya'll. Nothing special just a little tour. The first one is behind our house. Yep, that is a ball park! Football season is almost over then we get a little break before softball.
Look at those leaves! Those buildings across the street are the local PD and fire department.
Hannah Bug being silly on a Sunday afternoon! She sure is purdy!
Oh look! Its me and Kristen sittin on the porch swing taking a picture of ourselves!
And last here is Little Brian and the Daddy playing a little football down at the ball park! Thanks for visiting! Ya'll come back soon!

Thank you Kim!

See what Kim made for me! I am pretty sure it is a sympathy painting but hey I was feeling pretty crappy when she offered and it did brighten my mood a little! Oh okay a lot! Look how purdy she is all wrapped up! Check out her little shelf! The Daddy whipped it up so she would have a nice place to sit! Let me tell you all that Kristen asked what the "C" stood for the first time she saw her,HA!
Oh and look at the prime spot she has in the foyer! She sure does class the joint up, doesnt she?!? Thank you Kim!

Is Monday here already?

What happened to the weekend? I am almost certain this has been one of the busiest weekends we have had in a while adn we have had some crazy ones lately! Saturday we had to be at Hannahs soccer game at 11, then at the skate center for a party at 2, and then at Kristens game at 630! Did I mention that Kristens game was a 30 mile drive away? It was in Mcewen and if you are famialiar you know that there is NOTHING there! The lights kept going out and holding up the game so her game did not start until 9 pm!

Today we had to pick Hannah up from a sleepover that was a good drive away. They are friends of ours too so we had a small cookout for lunch and played the Wii for a bit!

Of course no laundry got done this weekend!

Dear Lady in the red Nissan,

Why is it that you insisted on pushing me down the interstate this morning? I was already going 80 in a 70 and there were cars in front of me so I could go any faster. Yet you still swerved from side to side as if warming your tires for the big race! Did you know that you lose MPG when you drive too fast? Did you also know that our town is in the middle of a gas crisis so any extra MPG you can get helps. I watched a show not too long ago about folks like you who used that kind of intimidation and ended up causing fatal accidents. How would you feel if you caused an accident that killled someone? I travel that same stretch of interstate four times a week with my 3 year old son in the back seat of my car. Next time you decide to drive like a maniac try thinking about the other people on the road. It isnt worth those few extra minutes you save!

We are a workin on it!

We really did start painting that bathroom this weekend. Actually the Daddy did most of the work. I helped a little ,but I really am a horrible painter. We still have to get a second and possibly a third coat of yellow on the walls. The color is actually called Mellow Yellow, Ha! I am sure that some of you are wondering what the heck we are thinking with this color but let me remind ya'll this is our kiddos bathroom. Hopefully we will finish this up in the next day or two! By the way, this bathroom looked like a 3 year old had painted it before so if any of you know a trick for getting paint off the tub surround let me know.

A Project on the Horizon!

Well with all of the craziness with gas going up and stations running out I decided to start a project this weekend. The extremly poor quality photo is from the day we moved in this house. It is the kids bathroom and it pretty much looks the same now as it did then. While remodeling it is not really an option at this point, some paint and decor would help it out a lot! That is where the frog comes in. This is a kids room and we have girls and a boy so it has to be gender neutral. I dont remember where that frog prince came from but I think he is kinda cute so this bathroom will be decorated around him. This should be fun!

Broken Pitcher Ministries

I am sure that some of you are familiar with Angie Smith's blog "Bring The Rain" that tells the story of the daughter, Audrey, who passed shortly after birth. She is not only a amazing and strong woman, but a beautiful writer. Her blog is an inspiration.

Angie is starting a seven week Bible study here in Nashville on Monday. I absolutely am looking forward to joining it as it will be a fun time for making new friends and building a stronger relationship with God.

If any of you local folks are interested, please click on the icon on my blog to find out more details. Also for those not familiar with Angie's blog, check it out also.

Brians First dental Appointment!

I did not take pictures. Can you believe it? Actually he has been to the dentist several times but never to actually attempt getting a cleaning. He did FANTABULOUS! My child talked to everyone and got his teeth sparkeled. He brought a toy monkey with him and sent the monkey back first to get its teeth cleaned. No he did not watch. He sent the monkey back, lol. What a joker that kid is. anyhoodle we are good for at least six months!

Its gonna hurt in the Morning

You all remember my friend Peggy from jr high school. Well her and her family came over today and we grilled out and had a great time. The problem is we decided to go to the park. Well I thik we all had too muchfun including the kids. Peggy and I got on this tire swing and her husband spun it around so fast on us that we were both ready to puke by the time we got off. Not to mention trying to hang on when that thing is spinning out of control. I am seriously sitting here drinking Sprite in hopes that it will calm my tummy down. Wow! I am getting too old for this, lol. Hopefully I will get some pictures up tomorrow.

Oh and it looks like we will be staining the steps. You all spoke and I am listening.

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

Opinions please!

Remember my stairs from way back when? Well they are not yet finished and right now the Daddy and I are up in the air as to how we want to go about finishing them. Now all of the primed area is white now but the unpainted area including the rail is still that way only with a few million dirty fingerprints on it now. That is what happends when you have a mess of children!

So now to the problem. The Daddy is thinking we should stain the rail and steps and I would rather paint them black. Staining them just seems to boring to me. Of course I am willing to except that staining them may be the better options if that is what you all think so let me have it. Stain or paint?

A few photos I took for my sister

This is my sister, Cindy. She is a senior this year so we are having quite a bit of fun taking some pictures for her. The first one is my favorite. I took around 85 shots and so far I only have about 7 or 8 edited. Actually that is more keepers than I usually get out of that many! Ha!

A little Soccer fun....

Here are a couple of fun photos from Hannah's soccer practice friday evening. She is loving it! This is the first time she has played and she is not afraid to jump right in. Her coach is also coach for the high school team, which is pretty cool. He is very high energy and keeps those kids on their toes! I will get some more pictures at her first game. Hope everyone has a great sunday!

Its Getting closer!

First let me tell you all that I feel alot better today than I have. My level of pain from this oral surgery/braces has decreased by at least half. Lets just pray it stays this way for a while!

Now onto my regularly scheduled post! I took these the other day. I noticed my big tree was starting to look a little more yellow than normal and I saw these leaves on the ground. Hmmm, I bet that tree will be orange real soon so I think it is time to get out those pumpkins! I love this time of year!

Hard to believe that over ten years had past

I got to have lunch today with my friend,Peggy, that I had not seen since around 9th grade! So I guess its been closer to 15 years! She found my Myspace and we both live in the same county even! The Daddy and little Brian came along and we all had a great time. Looks like Peggy and I will be having friday lunches more often!

This is probably the most embarrasing thing I have evah posted on my blog but for all of you who are curious, here you are. Dont look at how messed up my hair is or the fact that I have not one spec of makeup on or that my eyebrows look like furry worms. Check out my grill or lack there of! Dont try and say "Oh it aint that bad" either. Have you seen a before picture? Hmmm, hold on I will upload one for ya.
Okay that is better. Let me just say that I do have a fantastical( I made that word up) orthodontist though. Actually if any of you are in middle Tn and need a dentist of any kind I can tell you where to go for what.
Okay enough rambling now I am going to bed on that note!

Monday, August 25, 2008

I made far

It wasnt fun, but its over for now. I am going to the orthodontist wednesday morning for a more permanent temporary fix until I can get an implant. Apparently the infection was quite bad so I cant have an implant just yet. Maybe...just maybe if yall are lucky I will post a nice crazy pic of myself after I get back from the orthodontist. It is sure to be quite a HOOT!

Oh and to Marie, I know it seems like I fell off the face of the Earth and I have felt like it lately but I promise I will try and do better! ;)

Its a good thing I can laugh at myself!

Actually I wont be laughing tomorrow and maybe not even the day after that. First for those who dont know much about me I work in the dental field. I DONT have perfect teeth. It is just an illusion and a great dentist of course. However there comes a time when dental technology can only go so far and I am finding that out personally. You see it all started about 20 some odd years ago when I was riding my bike......... in circles......on concrete..........and fell off.......Do you all see where I am going with this? Anywho, I broke one of my front teeth. Here I am a bonding, a root canal, and three crowns later only to find out that somewhere along the way the root on that joker decided to break. This poses an interesting problem. You see this tooth that I have fought so hard to keep is officially non restorable now. On top of that it is abcessing again. So I have to do something about it soon. Real soon. So tomorrow I am having it pulled. Now I do have the luxury of having an implant put in to replace it but it has to heal first. But dont think I am walking around town with a front tooth missing. No I may live in the sticks but HELLO! There will be something there temporarily. Just my luck it has to happen now so I will be dealing with this through the holidays. Stay tuned and if you are lucky I might post pictures in about ten years!

3 day flu?!

Okay first let me just tell you all to make sure you are listening to the new song I added to the blog. It is called "Slow Fade" by Casting Crowns. It is a wonderful song.

Now back to this post. We took Kristen to the doctor today. She woke up this morning in tears because she felt bad but she tried hard to put on a brave face and go to school. She had cheer practice tonight and we have a rule. If you are too sick for school then you are too sick for sports. So off to school she went. The school nurse called around 12:30 and said that it looked like she had blisters on her throat so the Daddy went and picked her up while I got the doc on the phone. We went to the doc and he said that on top of allergies she has what they are calling the 3 day flu. Symptoms are sore throat, headache, cough, and body aches. Usually lasts around 3 days, hence the name. So by the time we got home my poor child was so out of it sick that she was sobbing uncontrollably in the car. Kristen never gets sick so for her to be crying sick I knew it was bad. Needless to say she is staying home tomorrow. Hopefully she will be better by saturday night so she can cheer at the first official football game of this season!

I must Be CRAZY!!

Does anyone remember this? No, oh that is because this was before I started blogging. This was before I had time to blog. This was the summer we moved to Burns and the girls cheered for the Cowboys. This was the fall that our lives revolved around cheerleading and football. Kristen is doing it again! Sadly she didnt make the golf team and it was too late to sign up for anything else or so I thought. You see cheer practice started 2 weeks ago, but Kristen being resourceful and desperate managed to get in anyway. She knows people, HA! The fact that she is small is a bonus for her also. You see the small girls make good flyers. Yes it scares me but the child cant do a cartwheel so I guess she will have to fly. EEEP!

Can you hear that?

Okay turn off the music at the bottom of my blog and then......maybe. Oh wait of course you can't hear it. Neither can I. No kids screaming or asking where their clean laundry is. No dog whining cause she wants to go out. No tv blaring full blast on the Noggin channel.

No, I am not on vacation. I am at home. The girls are at school. Little Brian is on his way to the Hodges house with the Daddy and the dog is already outside. I can't swing this very often, but a girl needs a day to get things done at least twice a year! Today is my day. I only have until about 4 pm though so I better get a move on.

Did I mention that most of what I have to do today is for the kids, lol? Oh well, at least I will be able to get it all done without chaos for once;)

Happy Birthday Little Man!

Wow, Can you believe that 3 years have passed since we all first met Brian? For those of you who don't know this little guy, you are missing out. He is such a sweet and loving little man. I say man because if I call him a boy he says "No, I a man.". We have been through alot in the last few years with him, but I wouldnt trade these experiences for anything. There have been many times when we have had to trust that God would get us through the scary stuff. I can't even begin to explain the fear of sending your child off to surgery or watch him lay in the hospital weak knowing that it is up to God to help those doctors make the right decisions to get him better. I am grateful. Brian is here and he is healthy. So with that we are about to sit down and eat some spaghetti because that is what Brian wanted for his birthday dinner!

School is Back In Session!

Here are a few photos from the pool when we went to Chattanooga a couple of weeks ago. My post really has nothing to do with them but I thought I would share them anyway. School started friday. Can you believe that Kristen is in the 6th grade and Hannah is in the 4th? Little Brians ear lookslike it hurst with those goggles on is big ol head.
Kristen is trying out for the golf team today after school. She is very excited. I am nervous because she has never had to try out for a team before. She got on the grey hall, whatever that means. I do know that it is "cool" to be on the grey hall. About 50 er 10 of her friends spent the night friday night and most were on grey hall and were sooo excited!
Hannah had a small accident friday night involving a red wagon and pavemnet. Her lip got busted pretty good, BUT HER TEETH ARE OKAY! You all know how freked out I would have been had her teeth been broken. Especially since my boss, aka our Dentist is on vacation. Kristen told her she looked like a duck with her lip puffed out so much. I am thinking thatshe should have kept that to herself, lol!

busy times

I am not sure where this picture was taken or even which one of us took it but I just wanted a picture with my post so here ya go!

First I need to tell you all that I am the proud mother to an 11 year old! Did ya'll hear me? My baby is 11! Kristen had a birthday on July 18th, but we were out of town so we are having some of her friends over friday night for a cookout/ sleepover.

Oh did I mention that friday is also the first day of school here? Well it is. Kristen is going into the 6th grade and that means a new school. Hannah is going into the 4th grade and that means, well she is going to the 4th grade I guess.

So the next couple of weeks will be a little crazy as we shift back into our school routine. Oh and Hannah will be playing soccer this fall. Little Brian is old enough now, but we are going to wait til spring to let him play. Yes, they start them out young here. 3 year olds can play! Kristen is going to try out for golf at school. It runs through the fall also and she said she may want to try soccer in the spring so we will see. Wouldnt that be crazy? Having all 3 kids in soccer!

Please check in often and hopefully I will be back on a roll soon!

We are famous!

okay so not really. The dental office I work at just got its very own web site. Hmm, maybe that makes us slow to come up with the times. Anyhoodle, check it out. If you are in middle Tennesse then give us a call if you need a good dentist. And most importantly check me out!

what do you think so far?

So the Daddy and I have been playing around with this picture frame idea for a bit. This is the first one that has been put together. It is a bit plain, but I like it. The top of the frame is one piece, letters and all. I took the picture/glass from a frame I had to see how it would look put together. I think we are going to play around with it a bit more as far as design and color go. Check back!

So I started this today...

This is the ottoman that matches a rocking chair in Little Brians room. The thing is I dont like it in there any more and want to move it to Kristens room. The thing is the fabric on it was yucky and didnt match Kristens room. Have ya'll seen Kristens room? If not I will get on that. If so then you know why I recovered the ottoman with this fabric. It is actually part of a sheet that my Mil bought to recover another chair in Kristens room. The thing is I dont like that chair in her room any more so that is why the rocker is going in there. Now I must figure out what to do about the chair cushions. Not sure if I am going to make new ones or redo the old ones. Hmmm, well come back tomorrow. If I can get Kristen to clean her room I will take pictures of it to show ya'll.

You are what you eat!?

I wanted to have a cool post with pictures but my internet is acting a fool at home so I am going to tell you about a show I started watching. It is on BBC America and it is called "You are What You Eat". For those who have not seen it you should. I am obsessed. I dvr it and watch when I get home. I have even got the Daddy hooked. So check it out.

Oh and the Daddy and I are working on a project and we are hoping to have some in our Etsy shop soon. Ha I bet you didnt even know I had an Etsy shop. I do, but it is waiting to be filled! Stay tuned!

The Little Red Door

So this is it. Our house was built a loooooong time ago and best we can guess so was the front door. While it is small, it still has a lot of character. My favorite part is the hand carving. Someone had painted her white before we came into her life. White was boring. So was the plain brass knob. While the Daddy and I were at Lowes I decided I wanted to paint her. So we picked up a quart of Regal Red and back home I went. After the second coat was good and dry the Daddy added a fancy new handle/ knob. I took pictures forgetting that he still needed to add the deadbolt. He is doing that as I type. I must say that the red doesnt look nearly as bright in real life as it does in the picture but you get the point! Enjoy!

Fourth of July fun a day late!

The Daddy and Little Brian goofing off! I love those guys!
Our dog, Anna. She was watching from inside.
This is where we get a little country! Check out our cheapo slip-n-slide we picked up at the local Walmart! We dont have any hills so I had the kids pose as if they could actually slide down the joker.
Oh crap! Since little Brian is not really moving it is kinda obvious Hannah isnt either! Ha!

Awwe yes! Last here is a sneaky peaky at the project I have been working on this weekend. I will post some before and after pics tomorrow night so stay tuned. I will give you a hint though. A certain front door may be getting a fab new look so if you are a big fan of a good red door check back!
